1. Flexible display has become the mainstream trend of the OLED industry

OLED, or organic light-emitting diode, is the third-generation display technology after CRT. It has the characteristics of thin material, rich colors, low energy consumption, and flat light emission. According to the appearance classification, OLED can be divided into rigid screen and flexible screen, and flexible display is flexible OLED. At the same time, in the field of flexible electronic displays, the current mainstream is flexible OLEDs, and flexible liquid crystal displays (LCDs) are also developing simultaneously. In general, flexible displays have become the mainstream trend of the OLED industry.

2. "BOE" is the largest domestic flexible OLED manufacturer

Flexible electronics has been rated as one of the top ten scientific and technological achievements in the world, and has been gradually promoted in the application of electronic products in recent years. According to statistics from ubiresearch, in 2018, the global output of flexible OLED display screens was approximately 137 million; in 2019, the output increased to 149 million.

In the field of global flexible OLED, South Korea's Samsung is a global leader in flexible OLED displays, occupying a leading position in the market, and can provide a full set of vertically integrated supply chains;

BOE is the largest manufacturer of China's flexible OLED industry. In 2017, it broke the international monopoly of flexible OLED and has the world's second 6th-generation flexible AMOLED production line that can be mass-produced. In 2019, Samsung's global flexible OLED market share was 78 percent , and BOE's market share increased to 8 percent .

3. Global flexible OLED panel shipments will continue to grow

As far as the display solutions of electronic products are concerned, OLED has become the mainstream trend to replace LCD, and it is developing in the direction of curved surface → foldable → rollable. The penetration rate of flexible OLED in electronic product display screens continues to increase, and the application range is from mobile phones to Expansion of TV and other products. According to ubiresearch, global shipments of flexible OLED panels are expected to reach 215 million in 2020, and will grow to 257 million in 2021, 320 million in 2022, and 353 million in 2023.

At the same time, according to IHS forecast data, by 2022, the global share of domestic manufacturers in the global flexible OLED production capacity structure will further increase. Among them, BOE's production capacity share will reach 22 percent .
