The touch screen is integrated on the flat-panel display and serves as a sensor for operation to read the traces traced by fingers, pens, etc. Touch screens are not only used in mobile phones, but also in small and medium-sized display devices such as digital cameras, portable game consoles, copiers, car navigation, etc., in addition, they can also be used in bank ATMs, computer monitors, and electronic signs, with a wide range of uses.
The use of touch screens before 2000 was limited to PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants, commonly known as handheld computers), electronic notebooks and other products. However, with the rapid expansion of the field of low- and medium-priced flat panel displays, the market for touch screens integrated on flat panel displays is proportional to the demand for flat panel displays, and there is a trend of expansion.
The sales of small touch screens, which are mainly used in PDAs, have declined, leading to the stagnation or even shrinking of the small touch screen market. However, with the launch of the integrated touch screen and portable navigation device in the "Nintendo DS" portable game console in 2004, the market for small touch screen panels has returned to its original glory. Coupled with the launch of smart phones represented by Apple's iPhone, the market for more than 1.2 billion mobile phones and smart phones with integrated touch screens is also increasing every year.
Although there are many applications in medium-sized touch screens, such as FA (Failure Analysis) and other business touch screens, coupled with the launch of new products such as e-books and netbooks, expectations for integrated touch screens are constantly increasing. In particular, Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system can support Windows Touch software that uses touch screens, which is likely to prompt a rapid increase in the integration of touch screens in PC-related products.
In addition, for large display devices, touch screens were originally limited to business uses such as vending machines. And now its uses are becoming more and more extensive. For example, in entertainment products such as electronic games, electronic signs, educational whiteboards, etc. have also begun to use touch screens.
